I’m writing this on the plane to Oslo so that means that me, a 57-year-old golfer, turning pro on Saturday in the Norwegian Senior Open at Fredrikstad must be real. I can’t tell you how excited I am.
It all started back in January when a professional playing partner in a mixed professional and amateur tournament in Portugal said to me: “If you intend playing in these events, why don’t you turn pro…….and stand the chance of making some money?” And so the seed was sown.
The following morning I woke at 6.00am and woke my partner up to announce I was turning pro. I checked my thinking with my son, also a golfer, and the decision was made.
It was to happen in Spain on 17th March but the lockdown came along and things were put on hold – a very minor issue given how so many have suffered due to the global pandemic.
So here I am ready to take the plunge on Saturday and I’m feeling this is definitely what I should be doing. A bit apprehensive, grateful that I have the opportunity, so appreciative of all the support I have from so many wonderful people and, most of all, more excited than I can express by another challenge.
Keep logging in to my blog. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Wee thought mate, during our trip to Wales, Ireland and England you did very well in the first 36 holes. Keep your focus and you’ll do fine. Tony
