And we’re off…

So that’s me. I’ve turned pro as of this morning when I played the first round of the Norwegian Seniors Open – and I feel great!

Let me tell you, at 10.50 this morning on that first tee I was excited, relieved and a just a bit nervy – all at the same time. So I stepped up to hit my 4 iron on the 1st, which demands a positional shot short of the water. Now – first things first – I made contact; secondly it went forward; and thirdly it came to rest in the semi rough. It might have been slightly heavy, but it was there. My second was a wedge to 8 feet and a holed putt to open things with a birdie.
I was off and running!

I was partnered with some great Norwegians – all of us trying our best in the 24 degrees of the Norwegian sun.

For me it was a mix of birdies, bogies and pars to get it round in 77, 5 over par and from my point of view still in the hunt for tomorrow. Sure it could have been better, but it could have been worse too. We all know what it feels like to just keep doing what your doing and believe that the scores will come. That’s one of the great things about golf – there’s always something to aim for to keep your score on track.

So after day one I’m tied for 6th place, 4 off the lead and with all to play for tomorrow when I plan to be a bit more aggressive and try to get up that leader board.

I can’t wait to have another go……
